Saturday Café

The Saturday Café, manned by trained volunteers, is a fundraiser for Christian and charity projects and a meeting place on Saturday.

David, Carol & Jan - Welcome to Saturday CafeThe Saturday Café:-

  • has a simple menu, featuring Bacon Baps, Soups and “… on Toast” meals, all cooked to order and at reasonable prices

  • collects the money for car parking in the church car park on Saturday. This provides a service to the people of Trafford, an opportunity for us to meet new people and increases the money for charity

  • is manned from a rota comprising twenty people plus a house group

  • produces income from food and parking enabling sizeable donations – often of £200 – to many local, national and international charities

  • is a meeting place and a witness for Christ.

Food

We offer aBacon Barm... simple menu yet many people enjoy a tasty and satisfying Saturday lunch.

Hot dishes include Bacon Baps, Soup and Roll, Cheese or Beans on Toast, Toasted Teacakes. We offer muffins, doughnuts, fruit, chocolate biscuits and drinks. We are always looking to improve what we offer in the menu while preserving the consistency of food and service across the large group of volunteers.

Parking

All-Day Parking is available on most Saturdays for just £2.00. The money is collected in the café and all the money received goes to Christian and charity projects.

Occasionally it is necessary to limit the parking to accommodate wedding parties. Contact us if you want to check availability.

People

The simple menu means individuals don’t need to be great cooks to be volunteers yet they can use and develop their talents by just giving their time. Training is provided both to help the individual prepare the food and also to meet prescribed hygiene standards.

On average a volunteer will spend just two and a half hours a month in the Saturday Café and this provides a service to the customers. We do this as part of the church’s activity, as a way of meeting people, to support charities and as part of our witness for Christ.

If you would like to help in this practical and social venture contact us through the web site.

The amount of money for the projects grows year to year. Over £3100 went to projects last year. These included the major initiatives supported by Altrincham Methodist Church (Steve - Act4Africa <in line link for more details> , Steps, others ?) but also many others nominated by the Saturday Café volunteers and members of the church.
